Restoration & Conservation.

We prefer to take a conservative approach to clock repair, considering what is best for your antique clock. You are the steward of your fine timepiece, merely looking after it for the next generation. In circumstances where cosmetic restoration is desired, we partner with experts in the field.
Movement Repair/Overhaul Process
We strive to do all movement work returning the movement to meet (or in some cases exceed) the original clockmaker's standards. The following steps are carried out with every clock that comes to our workshop:

Evaluation & Estimation
We carefully analyze the condition of your clock and it's movement to determine the best possible options for repair and/or restoration. Estimates are sent with no obligation and are free of charge. If a house-call is desired for your clock, we are always available to come to you. Once the estimate is approved, the work begins.

Repair
We disassemble & clean the movement, typically using ultrasonic cleaning machines with top-grade ultrasonic cleaning solutions. Following cleaning, we analyze all components for wear, and map out a repair plan. Pivots and all working surfaces are dressed, burnished and bushed as necessary. All wear is addressed and parts repaired/replaced/re-manufactured in order to ensure optimal running and timekeeping.

Testing
Following the repair process, your movement is re- assembled, oiled, and calibrated. We use electronic timing equipment which allows us to finely calibrate timekeeping. Then your clock is tested, tested, tested, and tested again. This is a very critical part of our process. Running the clock for a few weeks, carefully monitoring it on a daily basis ensures that we can feel confident about the running of your clock before returning it back to your home.

Our Guarantee
We stand behind our work. Antique mechanical clocks are complex, sensitive devices, and there are occasional surprises which can arrive in the moths following our overhaul process. Generally, movements we overhaul carry a 6-month comprehensive warranty. We consider clocks outside of this 6-month period on a case-by-case basis, but bill any charges outside this period as conservatively as possible.
